Dubai Job Offer Requires Police Clearance? Here's What You Need to Know

Question: I've received an exciting job offer from a Dubai company, but they mentioned I might need to provide a police clearance certificate. Is this standard practice in the UAE? What exactly does this certificate check, and how do I obtain one?

Answer: Many employers in Dubai and across the UAE include Police Clearance Certificates (PCC) as part of their hiring process. While not legally required by federal law, companies often use this document to verify that potential employees have no criminal history.

The PCC serves as official confirmation about your legal standing - it shows whether you have any criminal convictions or pending investigations against you. The requirement depends on both the company's internal policies and the specific role you're applying for.

For continuous updates on employment matters in Dubai, follow KT on WhatsApp Channels.

Obtaining your PCC is straightforward through official channels. You can apply via:

The Dubai Police website or mobile app
The Ministry of Interior's online portal

The application process typically requires:

A valid passport copy
Your Emirates ID

The certificate specifically confirms your good conduct during your time in the UAE. For complete guidance on requirements and procedures, visit either the Dubai Police or Ministry of Interior websites where detailed instructions are available.
